Chapter History

Our mission at the Make-A-Wish Foundation® is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation of BC and Yukon was the first Canadian Chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Since 1983, we have granted more than 1,350 wishes for children in our region. This year we hope to grant over 100 special wishes.

The Chapter was founded by Nigel Brown and Robb Lucy who were inspired by a TV story on Make-A-Wish America's launch in Phoenix and decided to start up the Make-A-Wish Foundation in Canada. Armed with zealous enthusiasm, personal credit cards and a large network of friends, they set to work granting their first wish - providing a young woman named Debbie with a trip to Germany to meet her grandmother.
